Message from the Director

HELLO
Welcome to the Open and Distance e-Learning (ODL) Centre of the Mountain Top University. The ODL Centre is licensed by the National Universities Commission to commence academic activities and we have commenced with the B.Sc. Computer Science

The ODL Programme gives you the flexibility to learn while you are going about your business. You are not confined to the four walls of the classroom. So, if you need to earn some money to support yourself, your education does not need to be put on hold! You can study at your own location, while you work, in the comfort of your home and at your convenience.

Note that you do not require Unified Tertiary Matriculation Education (UTME) before you receive admission for the ODL B.Sc. Computer Science. All you need is at least a Credit pass in five relevant subjects at Ordinary Level (OL) exam to include English Language, Mathematics and Physics.

We deploy technology for blended learning at the ODL Centre so you can access your learning materials online on our Learning Management System. We get you engaged in learning activities on weekly basis so you are properly guided to personally construct knowledge of your course of study. We will also provide you with real time live sessions where you can interact with your tutors and peers. You must learn to plan your time and activities to ensure you can learn when you are supposed to. However, should you require technical assistance, guidance and counselling, our experienced counselors and educational advisers are always available to provide the necessary guidance and support

Since learning is designed to help you construct knowledge, it becomes important for you to understand that you need to devote time to study personally and learn through the multimedia resources that we make available to you as: course materials, instructional videos, learning design on your Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) discussion forum where you can share your learning experience with your peers. You will also have the opportunity to evaluate the teaching and learning process regularly so that we could identify what challenges confront you and how we can better support your learning trajectory.

Towards the end of the semester, at two weeks before the examinations, it is necessary for you to have a recedency period on our campus in Prayer City, where you will go through hands on practical experience of the various courses that you have been guided to learn during the semester. This will be followed by another two weeks of examinations in residence. This means, you have three to four weeks mandatory on-campus stay every semester.

We look forward to having you join our teaching population of enthusiastic students at the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Centre here at Mountain Top University.

If you require further enquiries, please contact us on 08103675081 and 08032185062 or via email at directorodl@mtu.edu.ng. Visit our website odl.mtu.edu.ng for admission registration details

The programme curriculum is the same for the regular B.Sc. Computer Science. Please see the student handbook provided on this website or the hard copy provided you at registration as a student.
